The Vision and Legacy of Bernard Walsen
Throughout his life, Bernie Walsen saw how sports could transform a young person's sense of self-worth and resilience. However, he also saw the systemic barriers that prevented women and girls from reaching their full potential—limited funding, inadequate facilities, and fewer dedicated resources.
In establishing this fund, we are seeking to carry on with Bernie's mission: to ensure that financial constraints never stand in the way of a girl's athletic desire to play softball or any other sport. 100% of funds collected will be distributed to organizations, teams and individual players to help young athletes participate and learn at the sport of their choice.
This legacy isn't just about trophies; it's about the grit, the determination, and the community that Bernard championed until his final day.
